News for EU (RE-D)
Transition period for ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 specification
With reference to the official Journal of the European Union from 6 February 2020, we would like to remind you that the transition period of the harmonised standard EN 300 328 V2.2.2 expires on 6 August 2021. EN 300 328 regulates the specifications for data transmission equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz band.
V.2.1.1, the latest version of EN 300 328, is going to expire on 6 August, 2021.
After the end of the transition period, devices introduced onto the market, as well as those which have been tested according to V2.2.1 must be compliant with the new requirements of V2.2.2.
The most important change from the newly published EN 300 328 V2.2.2 to V2.1.1 is the revision of rules and measurement for receiver blocking, so re-tests will become mandatory for all devices.
In the official Journal of the European Union from 06/02/2020, the commission released the following decision:
On the basis of the request set out in Implementing Decision C(2015) 5376, ETSI drafted the harmonised standard EN 300 328 V2.2.2 for data transmission equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz band.
The most important change from the newly published EN 300 328 V2.2.2 to V2.1.1 is the revision of rules and measurement for receiver blocking, so re-tests will become mandatory for all devices.
The EU Commission has issued the Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1345 of 2 August 2019 amending Decision 2006/771/EC updating harmonised technical conditions in the area of radio spectrum use for short-range devices:
Main updates are:
Categories of short-range devices snd their scope
Frequency bands with corresponding harmonised technical conditions and implementation deadlines for short-range devices

Guide to the RE-D 2014/53/EU actualized
As of today, a new version of the Guide to the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU is available here and on the website of the European Commission.
Recently the Edition 3 of the new European Safety Standard IEC 62368-1 has been published.
“…This edition constitutes a technical revisions edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
addition of requirements for outdoor equipment
new requirements for optical radiation
addition of requirements for insulating liquids
addition of requirements for work cells
addition of requirements for wireless power transmitters
addition of requirements for fully insulated winding wire (FIW)
alternative method for determination of top, bottom and side openings for fire enclosures

RED Updated, Standard for ULP Wireless Medical added
Again the family of harmonized standards grows, per C 326/114 the following standards have been added:
EN 302 454 V2.2.1
Meteorological Aids (Met Aids); Radiosondes to be used in the 1668.4 MHz to 1690 MHz frequency range; Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum
EN 302 617 V2.3.1
Ground-based UHF radio transmitters, receivers and transceivers for the UHF aeronautical mobile service using amplitude modulation; Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum
EN 303 520 V1.1.1
Short Range Devices (SRD); Ultra Low Power (ULP) wireless medical capsule endoscopy devices operating in the band 430 MHz to 440 MHz; Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum
Updates for LVD and its Guidelines
The Low Voltage Directive, short LVD, is being maintained by the European Commission and regularly updated. More important to most people are probably the LVD Guidelines which serve as manual and reference: The latest edition is from August 2018.
