SIRIM Mandates IPv6 Reports for Approvals Starting July 2025
SIRIM announced new requirements for IPv6 compliance, impacting type approvals and renewals for cellular devices.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) will require IPv6 test reports for all new type approval applications and certificate renewals for products supporting IPv6 and LTE cellular devices.
This decision, announced on February 10, 2025, follows the availability of local testing laboratories for IPv6 (non-Wi-Fi-enabled devices).
For Wi-Fi-enabled products, testing can be conducted at any accredited IPv6 laboratory.
This marks the end of interim approvals for this equipment type as of July 10, 2025. After this date, applicants must submit complete IPv6 test reports for evaluation to obtain full approval.
