The IMDA has stated the cease of 3G support till 31 July 2024. Additionally, a mobile phone requirements proposal has been issued.

The IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) has stated the cease of all 3G support till 31 July 2024.

The acceptance of new applications or renewals for "3G-only mobile phones and non-VoLTE capable smartphones” has already stopped back in 1 November 2023.

Currently valid certificates for "3G-only mobile phones and non-VoLTE capable smartphones” will be invalidated by 1 February 2024.

The IMDA has additionally published, this month, a mobile phone requirements proposal "3GPP TS34.229-1".

The proposal is attached here.

A possible requirement within the proposal, is the necessity for testing on the mobile phone's capabilities for VoLTE calls on all four Mobile Network Operators public networks in Singapore.

A self-issued declaration letter would be the proof of compliance, which would then be needed during the application process.

Feedback on this proposal can be given until 31 January 2024 via e-mail to Telecoms_Standards@imda.gov.sg
