Press release from ARPCE

We would like to inform you that the Regulator of the Republic of Congo has decided that the Communications terminal equipment electronics will not return to Congo without having been approved by the validation of the ARPCE.

"As part of the application of the regulations on the import and distribution of electronic communications terminal equipment, the ARPCE has initiated a circular on January 14, 2019 which prescribes importers and distributors of equipment operating in this field. A period of one week to comply with the texts in force.

"It has been shown to me that the activity of importing and distributing electronic communications terminal equipment has hitherto been in defiance of the rules imposed in this area by the regulations in force; despite numerous reminders to the order, the last of which was made during the meeting held at the headquarters of the Regulatory Authority, on December 17, 2018, with certain importers and distributors, "said the Director General of the ARPCE, Mr. Yves Castanou who enjoins importers and distributors to report to the headquarters of the ARPCE for delivery, no later than January 21, 2019.

After this period, violators will be exposed to the penalties provided by law. As a reminder, the law n ° 9-2009 of 25 November 2009 regulating the sector of Electronic Communications, in its article 161, requires a certificate of approval prior to the importation of any terminal equipment of Electronic Communications.

The authorization and certification of electronic communications terminal equipment is therefore one of the paramount missions of the ARPCE, which aims to promote consumer rights. ARPCE intends to provide users throughout the country with quality equipment that meets international standards"
