Two new technical codes came into force on May 5, 2026, introducing updated SRD specifications, including revised frequency bands and adjusted power limits.

Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) issued the following technical codes:

  • MCMC MTSFB TC T022:2026, Communications Equipment – Baseline Requirements

  • MCMC MTSFB TC T007:2026, Short Range Devices – Specifications (Third Revision)

The new baseline code, MCMC MTSFB TC T022:2026, sets unified standards for communications equipment and addresses:

  • device labeling

  • interoperability

  • IPv6 support

  • electromagnetic compatibility

  • electrical safety

  • power density considerations

The revised SRD technical code, MCMC MTSFB TC T007:2026, updates technical criteria for multiple device classes, including:

  • RFID equipment

  • Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) equipment

  • Ultra-Wideband (UWB) devices

  • automotive radar sensors

  • Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) equipment

Notable modifications include an output power increase to 500 mW EIRP for 13.553–13.567 MHz, RFID frequency usage allocated to 919–923 MHz, and a limitation of 5.25–5.35 GHz equipment to indoor deployment only.

For 6 GHz RLAN applications, the revised technical code sets power limits by use case:

  • 25 mW EIRP for portable short-range use

  • 250 mW EIRP for fixed indoor installations in buildings, trains, or aircraft
