The updated Class License describes the frequency band of 5.925-6.425 MHz for the operation of RLAN.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has recently issued a new Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class License Variation 2022 (No. 1) which amends the Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class License dated from 2015 and known as the LIPD Class License. The current paper relies on the pertinent public comments and suggestions.

The updated Class License describes the frequency band of 5.925-6.425 MHz for the operation of RLAN (Radio Local Area Network) transmitters at low power levels and rectifes carrier frequencies. Consequently, there are several sub-items added to the LIPD Class License, namely:

63AA
RLAN transmitters
5.325-6.425
250 mW

  • Usage: only indoors

  • Power spectral density: not exceed 12.5 mW EIRP per MHz

  • Implementation of contention-based protocols for multiple access (e.g., CSMA or MACA) required

63AB
RLAN transmitters
5.325-6.425
25 mW

  • Power spectral density: not exceed 1.25 mW EIRP per MHz

  • Implementation of contention-based protocols for multiple access (e.g., CSMA or MACA) required
