MIC Amends Parts of the Radio Equipment Regulations
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) published amendments to the Radio Equipment Regulations under Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Ordinance No. 84 of 2026 on June 30, 2026. The amendments expand the scope of license-exempt radio stations in the 900 MHz band by explicitly incorporating Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) and RFID devices as applicable categories under Article 6, Paragraph 4.
The amendments introduce mandatory compliance conditions for WPT on-site stations, including requirements for carrier sense mechanisms. These conditions are intended to mitigate potential interference and ensure human safety.
Specific exposure limits are also defined, with Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) thresholds set at 2 W/kg for the whole body, excluding limbs, and 4 W/kg for limbs, excluding hands.
