Lebanon TRA Clarifies Manufacturer-Based Type Approval Certificates

On September 2, 2026, the TRA issued Notification TRA/PRE/327-020926 clarifying its Type Approval procedure for telecom-enabled equipment.

Under the clarification, Type Approval applications must be submitted in the name of the manufacturer. The application may be filed directly by the manufacturer or through an authorized representative acting on its behalf. The corresponding Type Approval Certificate is issued in the manufacturer’s name for the specific approved model or product.

Once a certificate has been issued, all importers bringing the identical approved product into Lebanon may rely on the same Type Approval. Separate importer-specific certificates are not required, provided that the imported equipment corresponds to the model and technical specifications covered by the valid certificate.

The clarification applies to telecom-enabled equipment imported as a standalone device, an embedded component in another product, or a corresponding spare part, insofar as it is covered by the relevant Type Approval.
