Since August 1, 2025, the cybersecurity requirements of the EU Radio Equipment Directive apply to relevant connected radio equipment. We support manufacturers in assessing their products against the applicable requirements and EN 18031.

EN 18031-2: Radio devices that process data
EN 18031-3: Internet-enabled radio devices that process virtual money or monetary values

Compliance
Regulatory Developments and Future Requirements
The cybersecurity requirements under Article 3(3)(d), (e) and (f) of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU, activated by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30, have applied to relevant radio equipment since August 1, 2025.
EN 18031-1:2024, EN 18031-2:2024 and EN 18031-3:2024 were published in 2024. Their references were published as harmonized standards by Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/138, subject to the limitations stated in that decision.
ETSI EN 303 645 remains a useful cybersecurity baseline for consumer IoT products, but it does not replace the applicable RED conformity assessment.
