International Standards

Approval and Conformity Assessment

The following international norms and standards form the basis for the approval of microwave radio systems and ensure their compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements:

  • EN 302 217 for point-to-point systems
The standard EN 302 217 defines the technical requirements and test methods for digital point-to-point radio links in the high-frequency range. It provides a comprehensive framework for the regulation and standardization of wireless communication links:

    • Frequency range: validation in the spectrum from 1-86 GHz

    • Conformity: assessment according to EU Directive 2014/53/EU

    • Applications: testing for FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) and TDD (Time Division Duplex) applications

  • EN 302 326 for point-to-multipoint systems
The ETSI EN 302 326 (formerly EN 301 126) standard provides comprehensive guidelines for point-to-multipoint microwave networks. It defines technical requirements, test procedures and measures for compliance with the EU Directive 2014/53/EU:

    • Technical Requirements: For stations using Time Division Duplex (TDD) or Frequency Division Duplex (FDD/H-FDD).

    • Transmission Methods: Includes considerations for modern technologies such as OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access).

    • Exemption: Systems using FH-CDMA (Frequency Hopping Code Division Multiple Access) with a hop period greater than 400 ms are excluded from the scope of the standard.

  • SSB FE-OE: Interface descriptions for microwave signals
We ensure full compliance with the technical regulations and interface descriptions set by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). These regulations are regularly updated and include, among others:

    • SSB FE-OE 060: Specification for Point-to-Point Microwave Systems in the 7 GHz Frequency Range

    • SSB FE-OE 030: Regulations for Point-to-Point Microwave Systems in the 6.2 GHz Frequency Range

  • EMC Testing: ETSI EN 301 489
The ETSI EN 301 489-4 standard sets the EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) requirements for fixed-point microwave links to ensure their reliable operation in various electromagnetic environments. It includes emission and immunity testing, defines test conditions, exclusion bands, and methods for performance evaluation.

Requirements for North America

Compliance with local regulations is essential to prevent delays and additional costs. As an accredited Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) in the USA and a Foreign Certification Body (FCB) in Canada, we help ensure your wireless systems are brought to market efficiently and in full compliance.
