MIL-STD-461H Published: Updated DoD EMC Standard

The U.S. Department of Defense released MIL-STD-461H on April 17, 2026, superseding MIL-STD-461G (2015). The new revision introduces targeted updates to EMC test requirements for electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment on land, air, sea, and space platforms.

Key updates:

• CE101: Upper frequency limit extended from 10 kHz to 20 kHz for Army and Navy ASW aircraft

• CS101: Single-phase injection for delta-configured AC systems added; alternative current-limit procedure introduced

• CS114: New common mode requirement, 77 dBµA from 4 kHz to 1 MHz, for surface ships and submarines with solid-state power generation

• RE101: Near-field scanning procedure revised; falloff distance measurement now required

• RE102: Antenna positioning requirements updated above 200 MHz and 1 GHz

• RS103: Reverberation chamber alternative test procedure formally added
