News for Pakistan
PTA issued revised Type Approval Regulations
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority PTA issued its revised regulations on December 31, 2019. The type approval process was not noteably changed, but:
1. the sample return value limit was lowered from 3000 USD to 2000 USD.
2 The local system testing part is now officially included in this regulation. In regard of this system based testing, applicants may be asked to provide device samples. Clause 5.1.m of Section 2 of the revised regulation reads as follows: "As part of type approval evaluation, PTA will perform system based checking e.g. operation system, firmware, output power, programmed frequencies as and when required. PTA may also ask to provide demo of the device to show all the features programmed in the devices and compare the same with submitted test report. This demo may be asked in person or through video conferencing as deemed appropriate."
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has notified new regulations.
All details related to equipment that is exempted and the one that requires type approval is listed within the regulations and all are required to abide by the notified regulations and procedures.
New regulation and application form available online
The Type Approval Technical Standards Regulations released on 2017-12-31 by the PTA (Pakistan Communication Authority) is now available online, as well as the new form for a "Certificate of Compliance to technical standards".

This list was published May 26, 2017 as follows:
Description
The Type C electrical plug (or Europlug) is a two-wire plug that has two round pins. It fits into any socket that accepts 4.0 – 4.8 mm round contacts on 19 mm centres. They are being replaced by E, F, J, K or N sockets which work perfectly with Type C plugs. Type C plugs are generally limited for use in appliances that require 2.5 amps or less.

Description
The Type D electrical plug has three large round pins in a triangular pattern. Type M plugs are often used alongside Type D plugs for larger appliances and as a result, some sockets work with both Type D and Type M plugs. Type D plugs are rated 5 amps.

Description
The Type G electrical plug has three rectangular blades in a triangular pattern and has an incorporated fuse (usually a 3 amps fuse for smaller appliances such as a computer and a 13 amps one for heavy duty appliances such as heaters). British sockets have shutters on the live and neutral contacts so that foreign objects can’t be introduced into them.

Description
The Type M plug has three round pins in a triangular pattern and looks similar to the Indian Type D plug, but its pins are much larger. Type M plugs are sometimes used for bigger appliances in countries that make use of Type D plugs, as well as in Israel (Type H). Therefore, sockets in these countries sometimes work with Type M plugs.
