Qatar ceases 3G services by end 2025
The Qatar Communications Regulatory Authority has decided that third generation (3G) mobile services will no longer be supported after December 31, 2025. This move is a logical consequence of the goal to ensure advanced services for consumers in Qatar. It will motivate stakeholders to develop and invest in 4G/5G technology to provide better services to the public as it offers benefits such as higher data transfer rates, faster response times and increased capacity to cope with the growing demand for mobile services.
With this in mind, the regulator has already started blocking the import of devices that are only 2G/3G capable to pave the way for the deployment of 3G in Qatar.
