As of February 14, 2025, devices operating exclusively via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi no longer require Type Approval in Bermuda.

The Regulatory Authority of Bermuda exempts devices operating solely on Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi from Type Approval—provided they comply with defined frequency and power limits.

Manufacturers and importers must still ensure full compliance with FCC, ISED, and ETSI standards, including proper labeling.

Applies to:

  • IEEE 802.15.1, 802.11n/ac/ax/be

  • Frequencies from 2402 MHz to 7125 MHz

  • Power limits up to 1 W (some sub-bands limited to 0.25 W)
