High-Field Immunity Testing Expansion at IBL-Lab
The investment supports testing according to key defense standards, including MIL-STD-461, AECTP-500, VG 95370 and VG 95373, addressing increasing requirements for realistic and high-intensity EMC immunity testing.
Extended Frequency Coverage and High Field Strengths
The integrated amplifier system from Rohde & Schwarz combines multiple frequency ranges into a single test environment. In the 6–18 GHz range, field strengths exceeding 400 V/m have already been achieved using the R&S BBA300-FG180 in a direct antenna mounting configuration, minimizing RF losses. Further expansion targets field strengths above 600 V/m.
Amplifier Setup Overview
The setup enables continuous high-field immunity testing across the full frequency range using multiple high-power amplifiers:
BBL200A-A5000: 9 kHz–250 MHz, 5 kW continuous / 7.5 kW peak, water-cooled
BBA150-BC2000: 80 MHz–1 GHz, 2 kW (optional 3 kW)
BBA300-DE1000: 1–6 GHz, 1 kW
BBA300-FG180: 6–18 GHz, 180 W / 300 W
This includes early adoption of the R&S BBA300-DE1000, positioning IBL-Lab among the first laboratories worldwide to deploy this amplifier.
Focus on Military EMC Testing
High-field immunity testing is a key requirement for military electronics, where systems must remain operational under extreme electromagnetic conditions as defined by MIL-STD-461 and related standards. The expanded setup allows testing under conditions that go beyond typical commercial EMC requirements.
Meet IBL-Lab at EMV 2026
IBL-Lab GmbH will be present at EMV 2026 in Cologne from March 24 to 25 (Hall 10.2). Florian Schmidt, Head of Department EMC, will be available to discuss military EMC testing and related standards such as MIL-STD-461, AECTP-500, VG 95370 and VG 95373.
