New Director and Stricter LoA Requirements
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has officially appointed Charles Kamau Karondo as its new Director General, effective August 2025. This leadership change is part of the Authority’s continued commitment to enhancing regulatory oversight and operational transparency in Kenya’s telecommunications sector.
Updated Letter of Authorization (LoA) Requirements
In an effort to combat increasing cases of document fraud, the CA has implemented stricter requirements for Letters of Authorization (LoA) submitted as part of type approval applications. These new rules aim to ensure authenticity and improve traceability of authorization documents.
Key Requirements:
LoAs must be issued on the manufacturer’s or client’s official letterhead.
The document must include accurate contact information, including valid phone numbers and email addresses.
The company’s official website must be clearly listed on the LoA.
Any LoA submissions that do not meet these requirements will be rejected without further processing. Stakeholders with compliant documentation are not required to take additional action at this time.
