RSS-102 — RF Exposure Compliance for Radio Equipment (All Frequency Bands)

We would like to remind that RSS-102, Issue 6, which was published by the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) last year, is approaching it’s 12 month transition period.

It will therefore soon be necessary to maintain compliancy, according to the new Issue.

This update will be relevant for already certified equipment, as well as to be certified equipment.

Please find here a reference from the regulation, about the Transition:

"Transition period RSS-102, issue 6, will be in force as of its publication on ISED’s website. However, a transition period of 12 months following its publication is provided, within which compliance with issue 5 or issue 6 of RSS-102 is accepted. After this period, only applications for the certification of equipment under RSS-102, issue 6, will be accepted. Furthermore, after this transition period, equipment that is manufactured, imported, distributed, leased, offered for sale or sold in Canada shall comply with RSS-102, issue 6."

Other notable changes within RSS-102, Issue 6, are a rehaul of it’s structure, and the implementation of new limits and requirements. Standards, such as RSS-216 have been partially integrated into the new issue as well.
