Chile: Resolución 737 EXENTA Enters into Force
In response to the increase in certification requests, Chile’s Subsecretariat of Telecommunications (SUBTEL) issued Resolution 737/2025 on May 13, 2025. The resolution was subsequently amended by Resolution 2219/2025 on November 17, 2025.
The amended framework entered into force on February 22, 2026, superseding Resolution No. 1,985 of 2017.
Key Features of the Changes
Certification remains mandatory for equipment used in medical applications.
A local representative in Chile is now mandatory.
Newly Exempted Device Categories
Among others, the following categories previously covered under Resolution 1,985/2017 are now exempt from type approval:
Portable transceivers (433.05–434.79 MHz)
Remote control devices (315 MHz and 430–440 MHz)
RFID equipment operating at:
119–135 kHz
13.553–13.567 MHz
902–928 MHz
Vehicle radar systems operating at:
24–24.25 GHz
76–77 GHz
77–81 GHz
Other equipment operating in:
2.400–2.4835 GHz
5.150–5.250 GHz
5.250–5.350 GHz
5.470–5.725 GHz
5.725–5.850 GHz
5.925–6.425 GHz
Requirements Before Importing Exempt Devices
For exempt devices not previously approved in Chile, manufacturers must:
Verify that radioelectric emissions comply with applicable telecommunications regulations
Obtain an FCC or EU test report including the required technical information
Affix a compliant QR code linking to a Spanish-language website containing required information (A–D)
QR Code Technical Requirements
The QR code must:
Be located in a visible place where the equipment is displayed or advertised
Measure at least 1 cm × 1 cm
Have no frame
Be readable by mobile devices (e.g., Model 2 QR code)
Use square modules (border and center style)
Provide a correction level of 30%
Ensure sufficient color contrast for readability

If the test report contains confidential information, restricted sections may require password access. The password must be provided in advance to SUBTEL via email at:
certificaciones@subtel.gob.cl
Implementation Date
As of February 22, 2026, devices without a compliant QR code on the packaging may not be operated or displayed to the public.
For devices already approved, it is sufficient to publish the type approval certificate on a website and place a QR code linking to the certificate in a visible location.
