As we already, announced in October 2019, NYCE issued NOM-001-SCFI-2018, which will cancel NOM-001-SCFI-1993. The new regulation will come into force 240 days after its publication on 2020-05-15.

This standard regulates the safety requirements which electronic equipment  manufactured, imported, commercialized, distributed or leased in Mexico needs to meet. Also, devices that are within its scope and that were previously exempt for being less than 24 V DC will be affected.

The certificates of NOM-001-SCFI-1993 will remain valid until the end of their validity period and/or theinventory of the products they endorse is exhausted. Please note: it is not possible to issue certificates for NOM-001-SCFI-2018 before May, 15. However, certification requests can be made before May 15, 2020, so that the certificates can be issued from then.

Group approval will be possible, as indicated in Appendix B- Grouping of electronic equipment and / or systems as a family of electronic equipment and / or systems.
