IFT Labeling Update in Mexico
Key changes by the Mexican Institute of Telecommunications (IFT): new seal requirements, labeling rules, and specific exceptions for approved products:
1. Effective Date: July 1, 2025.
2. IFT Seal Requirements: Must be printed, digitized or reproduced in 100% positive/negative black or gray, following specified dimensions and protection areas.
3. Visibility: The IFT Label must be legible without magnification and easily visible to users.
4. Labeling for Approved Products: Besides the IFT Seal, the approved products must include the IFT Label, consisting in the prefix "IFT" in capital letters, and the Homologation Certificate number, according to thirty-eighth homologation guideline.
5. For "small" products; with a dimension of 35 mm x 10 mm or smaller, that makes it not possible to display the marking or labeling physically on the Product or its box or packaging, nor can it be displayed electronically on the Product, it must be displayed physically in its manual or, if applicable, in the Product's electronic manual.
6. If the Product is factory installed in a vehicle and is not visible to the end user, the marking or labeling must be physically displayed in the user's manual or, if applicable, in the electronic user's manual.
7. Exemptions: The IFT Seal is not mandatory for products approved before the new guidelines take effect, including those with ongoing IFT Certificate applications, reissuance requests, extensions, or change reports for valid certificates issued prior.
