All new applications submitted after 20 July may use ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 to cover DFS requirements of devices subject to RSS-247, Issue 4.

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) published Notice 2025-DRS0006 on 10 September 2025, proposing the adoption of ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11) as the harmonised standard for 5 GHz WAS/RLAN radio spectrum access. Following a consultation period that concluded in November 2025, ISED established a six-month transition period, ending on 20 July 2026.

Until this date, manufacturers may demonstrate compliance with Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirements using either the previous ETSI EN 301 893 V1.8.1 standard or the updated V2.2.1 version. After the transition period, all new certifications must utilise ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 exclusively. The revised standard includes enhanced specifications for client devices with radar detection capabilities.

This update applies to products covered under RSS-247, Issue 4, encompassing licence-exempt local area network devices and digital transmission systems operating in the following frequency bands: 902–928 MHz, 2400–2483.5 MHz, 5150–5350 MHz, and 5470–5895 MHz. For DFS testing, ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 serves as an alternative to KDB 905462 (FCC guidance). Affected product categories include access points, multimedia systems, and automotive infotainment devices.
